Coach Billy Schurr (and family)
Lead Trainer, Founder of Goals Performance Academy
Coach Billy is the founder and lead trainer of Goals Performance Academy. Inspired by his years of playing soccer and coaching youth athletes in the Mahomet area, he started this academy to help young players achieve their highest potential.
Having grown up in Mahomet since the age of seven, Billy has a deep connection with the community. His coaching journey began at the age of 14 when he assisted his dad in coaching his sister's club team. He quickly realized he had a knack for teaching soccer and a passion for player development. At 18 years old, Billy was a Parkland Cobra soccer player and also a head coach for the Mahomet Seymour Soccer Club. Since then, he has had the privilege of coaching various age groups within the club, from U8 to U19.
Billy holds a Class E/GrassRoots US Soccer Coaching License and is a Certified Athletic Development Specialist (CADS) through the International Youth Conditioning Association (IYCA). His dedication to soccer spans both his personal and professional life, leading him and his family to establish Goals Performance Academy. Professionally, Coach Billy brings over 15 years of experience as a project manager in the manufacturing, insurance, healthcare, IT and education industries. With this experience he developed a customizable formula for developing great soccer players.
The GPA goal is to provide a welcoming environment where every player can thrive, whether they are transitioning from recreational soccer to club level or aiming for college recruitment. GPA is committed to meeting each player where they are in their development and guiding them towards their individual goals. Coach Billy's coaching philosophy emphasizes growth, skill development, and a passion for the game. Through his coaching experience with the Mahomet Seymour Soccer Club, he has had the pleasure of coaching six different teams and winning eight tournaments.
Outside of soccer, Billy enjoys spending time with his wife, Sammy, and their two children, Will and Piper Jo. Together the Schurr family has always felt there was a little something missing when it comes to agility training and skills access for young athletes in Central IL and wanted to find a solution to share with the community. GPA hopes to welcome athletes with a desire to focus on advancing in skills, athletic ability and mindset. It's a place for athletes guided by GOALS!
